Essay - Kaleigh Salzman
Contest Highlights:

  1. Exhibit may be an essay, poem or short story.
  2. Subject should be related to the Satin or Mini Satin breeds.
  3. Contestants need not attend the NASS
  4. Exhibits will be judged on the following: based on 100 point at 20 % per category.
    1. Content of exhibit.
    2. Effectiveness (educates, keeps the attention of reader, and entertains the reader).
    3. Length
    4. Style (grammar, sentence structure, types of sentences, spelling, and punctuation).
    5. Organization of exhibit (orderly, ease of following and reading).

Educational Display - Brad Warner
Contest Highlights:

  1. The topic must be about some aspect of SATIN or MINI SATIN rabbits.
  2. Display should be informative as well as creative.
  3. They may feature pictures, wording, or other appropriate items to support the subject of the display.
  4. Duplication from previous year's entry may not be entered.
  5. Scoring will be based on the following:
    1. Organization of Materials (20 pts)
    2. Presentation and Neatness (20 pts).
    3. Effectiveness (educates, keeps readers attention and entertains) (40 pt.).
    4. Use of Space (20 pts.)

Photography - Kaleigh Salzman
Contest Highlights:

  1. Photos may be framed or matted
  2. Digital entries on photo quality paper.
  3. Pictures should have been taken in the past calendar year.
  4. Gloss paper is not recommended.
  5. Contestants need not attend the NASS
  6. Judged on the following criteria:
    1. 50% composition, creative look, uniqueness, and communicative power.
    2. 50 % Color, sharpness, exposure, cropping and technical quality.

Craft - Lisbeth Haddox

  1. The topic must be about some aspect of SATIN or MINI SATIN rabbits.
  2. Exhibit may be any type craft.
  3. Scoring will be based on the following:
    1. Neatness (45 pts.)
    2. Creativity (45 pts.)
    3. Age appropriate (10 pts.)

Speech - Autum Cavender

  1. Participants may choose to use visual aids.
  2. Topic must be specific to the Satin or Mini Satin breeds.
  3. The length of the speech should be from 4-6 minutes.
  4. Judges may ask questions on the speech.
  5. Judges will receive a copy of the outline of the speech to know the general topic.
  6. Contestants may use note cards. Excessive reference may be a point deduction.
  7. Evaluation of speeches will be based on the following:
    1. Content 30%
    2. Organization of material 20%
    3. Presentation: 30%
    4. Language 10%
    5. Voice/pitch 20%
    6. Eye contact 10%
    7. Poise 5%
    8. Use of allotted time 5%

Technology - Alyssa Marshall
Contest Highlights:

  1. Exhibits would use technology to communicate information on the Satin or Mini Satin breeds. Examples of entries would be:
    1. a PowerPoint Presentation
    2. Web Pages
    3. Spreadsheet,
    4. Brochure, etc.
  2. Topic would be some aspect of Satins or Mini Satins.
  3. Judging breakdown.
    1. 50 % content
    2. 25 % originality
    3. 15 % technical merit
    4. 10 % affective use of technology.

Judging - Linsey Rogers
Contest Highlights:

  1. Evaluate 3 classes of rabbits; both Satins and Mini Satins will be represented during the contest.
  2. Contestants in the royalty contest must participate in this contest. (Exception: Lord and Lady contestants)

Royalty winners


Contest Highlights: Contestants will participate in the Judging, Written Test and one other contest. The total points of these 3 contests will determine the winner. Royalty contestants are divided into age groups, age determined by the last day of the NASS:
  • Lord and Lady: Under 9 years of age. Note: Lord and Lady Contestants will not be required to participate in the judging contest but will be asked to speak to our judges about one of their rabbits.
  • Prince and Princess: Age 9-11
  • Duke and Duchess: Age 12-14
  • King and Queen: Age 15-18
